Lexia Comprehensive Reading Test - Years 1-12
The Lexia Comprehensive Reading Test
is an assessment program that analyzes kindergarten readiness
(including phonological awareness), phonics and decoding skills,
sight words, reading comprehension, rate, and fluency using
miscue analysis. The 20 to 30 minute test, which a teacher
or other adult administers, also categorizes the student’s
performance in each skill area as Independent, Instructional,
or Frustration Reading Level.
The computer generates detailed reports
for each individual student that provides the teacher with
a clear understanding of the student’s strengths and
weaknesses and prescribes practice activities in Lexia’s
skill development software that will benefit the particular
individual.
In addition to individual reports,
the computer can produce classroom, school and district level
reports, giving teachers and administrators the ability to
assess not only the students’ improvement from year
to year, but also the performance of a specific group in comparison
to another. The reports evaluate according to skill levels,
rather than grade levels. Once a student has taken the 20
to 30 minute Lexia Comprehensive Reading Test once, he only
needs to take a 5 to 10 minute test to determine his progress.
